Done it!
Now we are all part of the 1% of people who have ever run more than a marathon.
Fabulous performances from all. To keep going when everything hurts, it's dark and you're on your own is not easy, but it's really really hard when you have already run 50 miles.
There really is no adequate way to say thanks to those who ran and those who have supported and donated.
You will have to make do with knowing how very much it means to our family, all those others with TSC, and all those involved in the other charities we have supported.
It means the world!
Having run round the historic walls of York for 8 hours last year, we decided on keeping the wall theme going. Having decided that the 2000+ miles of the Great Wall of China might require slightly more time off than any of us would be allowed, we decided on Hadrian's Wall instead. Online donations will go the TSA, offline donations will be split to reach our targets.
Why bother?
My son Sam still has TSC and we keep meeting more and more people who are being effected by this terrible genetic condition. To see children and families not knowing what will happen due to brain tumours, kidney tumours, epilepsy, learning delay is heartbreaking. Medical advances continue to be made and the TSA needs more money to make sure this research continues and to support those families affected. Target £3000
Noah is one of Sam's friends who needs a £20000 operation and £20000 physio to help him walk. This is not funded by the NHS so we want to help Noah's parents fund the operation. Target £1000
Sam goes horse riding with a number of his school friends to a Riding for the Disable centre near us. It is amazing to see how children with severe disabilities light up and, so obviously, love riding. We want to rasie enough money to pay for one of the horses for a year. Target £500
And then we have to go to hospital a lot and sit in the not so wonderful environment of the local childrens wards. We want to raise some money so that we can produce (well not us luckily, but local school children) and put up some art work in the hospital and buy some more toys. Target £500
After all it is only 70 miles in 24 hours......
