Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Last year, as many of you will know, I and several others cycled from Poole to Paris in four days. This year we're upping the ante with a challenging journey of over 390 miles from Paris to Bordeaux. Bearing in mind the number of times the team got lost last year, the chances are that we'll be doing a fair few more miles than that!

After such generous donations from everybody last year, the initial plan was for me to simply cycle as a personal challenge this time around. However, as many of you will know, Angus Ross of Dale Carnegie was diagnosed with a brain tumour earlier in the year. Angus has faced his battle against cancer with characteristic determination, humour and grace, but just a couple of weeks ago he was admitted to hospital with thrombosis. Doctors believe that it has been caused by a combination of the ongoing treatment he is receiving and his reduced mobility.

Angus has, I know, had a tangible impact on the lives of many local people, and personally he helped shape the direction of my own life through his never ending encouragement, and by helping me to find the determination and resolution to establish Inspire.

The Macmillan Cancer Unit has, and is still providing incredible and invaluable support to Angus and his family as he continues his battle with cancer. This reminded me of the support provided by the same Macmillan unit to my family during the illness of another great man; my Grandfather.

As we are all aware cancer does not discriminate, and the results of it's terrible spread can be entirely life-changing for the individuals and families affected. The support many of us have received from Macmillan during these times of adversity has been priceless, and consequently I am now undertaking this cycle challenge for the Macmillan unit in Christchurch.

I know that many such requests are made, but if you can, then please do give to this amazing cause.

THANK YOU....AND WISH ME LUCK!!!
