Story
After getting completely hooked on CrossFit around 18 months ago, and regularly dragging ourselves out of bed at outrageously early times of the morning to train in the woods at CrossFit East Rocks, we've lost our minds even more and are competing as part of a team (along with Stewart and Kat) at Battle Cancer in Manchester in August.
The event involves doing 4 timed workouts (the content of which we won't know until a few days before) and mainly involves throwing around lots of heavy weights, probably doing silly amounts of horrible things like burpees, and eventually feeling pretty broken and bruised. All for a good cause though!
We're raising money for Make 2nds Count, which supports research specifically into secondary breast cancer. Secondary breast cancer is breast cancer which has spread from the breast to other parts of the body. Although secondary breast cancer can be treated, there is no cure. Unlike those living with primary breast cancer, there is no end of treatment, there is no remission. It’s estimated that 35,000 people are currently living with secondary breast cancer in the UK yet only 7% of the National funding for cancer goes towards this incurable disease. Make 2nds Count aim to address this imbalance.
