At the beginning of every year, we select a local charity to support and we are delighted to announce Bassetlaw Food Bank as our chosen charity for 2021.

Bassetlaw Food Bank is a non-profit, charitable organisation that distributes food to those in crisis, helping those experiencing food poverty and hardship. The charity relies heavily on the local community for funding and donations to operate and support the people in need.

It provides emergency support to those who have received an approved referral from a recognised, front line professional organisation that can support or signpost clients to other support agencies to help them resolve their crisis.

They do not receive any formal funding, rely completely on grant applications, donations from organisations, churches, the general public and fundraising to be able to provide support to the local people of Worksop, Retford and surrounding village.

Oliver Stubbins, General Manager of Welbeck Farm Shop, said: 

“Our business is all about food and the local community, so with the current financial climate and ever-challenging circumstances from the coronavirus pandemic, we are delighted to be supporting Bassetlaw Food Bank as our charity of the year for 2021.

Over the year we will look to complete fundraising tasks, provide donations of healthy fresh fruit and veg, and help raise awareness of the additional support the food bank needs to aid our local community.”

To kick-off our support for Bassetlaw Food Bank, we are kindly asking people to help us raise vital funds for the charity by donating to their JustGiving account. We have set a target to raise £500. Once this has been achieved, we pledge to price match and donate £500 to the cause, raising the amount to £1000.
