Happy New Year!

Last year brought many changes to our lives, and we've all embraced the challenges in our unique way. 

One of the things that I'm most proud of from last year was joining a group that has become my second family. Last March, I was invited to Miami to volunteer with the Winter Party Festival team on Miami's beaches. This festival is not only a dance celebration honoring one of the communities that I belong to, but it also helps fund diplomatic work that benefits the LGBTQ+ community in the United States through the National LGBTQ Task Force.

The ever-changing landscape that COVID has brought to our country has hindered us from hosting this in-person festival in March. Winter Party Festival helps raise significant funds that support the National LGBTQ Task Force and local Miami LGBTQ organizations. These organizations help create a positive future for future generations; they build community. 

While we all hold varying individual political beliefs, we can all agree that uniting our communities is essential to create positive change and propel us forward. Every time I spend time with my nephews, I'm amazed at how much we have progressed since I was their age. While we still have many milestones to reach, I look ahead, realizing that our actions today can create a better tomorrow for them and the children to follow.
