Story
* UPDATE*
Unfortunately the show has had to be postponed due to severe weather in the local area, meaning students have had to travel home! The show will hopefully be postponed to Friday 16th March!
Five students at the WESC Foundation have decided to organise a 24 hour radio show, to help raise funds towards their residential trips this year! The students are George Gibson, Jacob Towner, Craig Salisbury, Matthew Ingram and William Larkin. The heroes of the event!
The students are organising the whole event themselves as part of their work skills lessons. This includes elements such as planning the schedule of the day, selling raffle tickets for prizes, advertising the event, to the most important part.. actually running the radio show for a full 24 hours, without stopping!
The show will be live on VI Radio at 9am on Friday 16th March, finishing at 9am on Saturday 17th March. You can listen online through the VI Radio website or download the ‘Tune in’ radio app to find the VI RADIO station. Each student will have their own slot with Jacob unfortunately taking the late night/early morning slot! (Good luck Jacob - don’t fall asleep!) There will be special guests on each show, invited by the students, as well as raffle winners being revealed on each show. Don’t forget to tune in and support the students. I’m sure they will appreciate phone calls and emails with song requests and, most importantly, words of encouragement! This is a huge undertaking by the students and they should feel very proud that they have taken this idea and run with it to raise funds for the WESC Foundation.
The trips hope to be life changing events, with one trip in particular that is really exciting the students.. a trip to AMERICA! They need every penny they can get to pay for the trip so dig deep into your pockets and donate what you can! It will be an experience they will never forget!
All that is left to say is GOOD LUCK GUYS! And DON’T FALL ASLEEP! :)
