Matthew Bacon, in Y10, collapsed at home in February this year and was quickly diagnosed as having a bleed to the brain. This was a huge shock to the family and Matt was rushed to hospital for an emergency operation to relieve the pressure caused by the bleed.
He spent 13 weeks in hospital receiving acute care from the children's nursing team.
The good news is that Matthew came home 2 weeks ago and is making remarkable progress, he is due back into hospital very soon to have have more treatment.
Matthew's family have asked us to help raise some funds for the wonderful Children's Hospital. We know Matthew loves sport and is normally very active we have decided to travel the entire circumference of planet Earth on foot in the 30 days of June!! This sounds a tall order but the more people involved the more achievable it is. If 200 people take part then only an average of 4.2 miles a day is to be covered each. A total daily target of 833 miles a day is what is required to complete this challenge. Run or walk and family movement can count, just use the live logger.
Staff and Year 10 students at Wickersley School and Sports College are taking on the challenge as well as students and staff at his old Primary school, Bramley Grange. #moveformatt
