Willing to help Wilbur

Willing to help Wilbur · 7 August 2012
Wilbur the Staffordshire Bull Terrier was taken in as a stray near to Lostwithial, Cornwall with a huge cyst on his leg. The dog wardens tried to get him placed in re-homing centres but as they were all full poor Wilbur was due to be put to sleep.
The National Animal Welfare Trust – Wheal Alfred Kennels in Hayle had a desperate phone call to say that Wilbur had days left and could we help this lovely chap in time.
We were very lucky and had managed to shuffle some spaces about to make room for Wilbur so in his hour of need he was transported down to Hayle.
We knew he had a lump on his leg but we were not expecting the size that it was! He will need immediate surgery which will be quite tricky due to the size of the lump and the position on his leg; he will see AVS vets on Tuesday for assessment and a quote for how much this operation is going to cost.
The National Animal Welfare Trust will go the extra mile for Wilbur as he is such a friendly boy, with such a soft nature just wanting cuddles, there is no moaning or groaning carrying this huge lump around I can’t imagine how he must feel. The NAWT has a non-destruct policy so we would not dream of euthanizing an animal just because it needs medical attention.
We are seeing more and more animals needing medical treatment coming through our doors, lumps and bumps, dentals and chronic skin conditions we can only assume that owners of these animals have not been able to financially afford the vet fees, we only wish that poor dogs like Wilbur had been handed in sooner as he must have been suffering with the lump on his leg for quite a long while.
Please help us to raise funds for thr care of Wilbur and so many more animals like him. Without us, they might not get that second chance they need.
