More than 2 billion people live in countries destroyed by conflict
In Syria, Yemen, Iraq and Palestine, conflict has devastated the lives of millions of people. Families have been forced to flee their homes, stripped of their dignity and plunged into severe poverty. They live in fear of unspeakable violence.
According to the UN, East Africa is experiencing the worst drought in 60 years, and a famine has been declared in Somalia and South Sudan. Every day, 6 children out of every 10,000 die in Somalia, due to hunger or diseases carried in dirty drinking water.
"The world is facing the worst humanitarian crisis since 1945: Lives have been torn apart by conflict and poverty, and now 20 million people face starvation. If we do not intervene, innocent people will starve to death or die from disease. Livelihoods, futures, and all hope will be lost. My friends, we must help now." Othman Moqbel, CEO, Human Appeal
