Story
Dear all,
An estimated 1.25 million people living in the UK suffer from some sort of eating disorder, an illness with the highest mortality rate of any psychiatric illness. Research suggests that around 46% of anorexia patients fully recover, 33% learn to manage whilst 20% remain chronically, potentially mortally ill. People of all ages across the country, suffer from a range of eating related disorders and this is why we need your help. The good news is, with proper support, it is possible to recover and lead a full and happy life again.
For the 2019 Waldringfield fun run, we have chosen to support the UK’s leading eating disorder charity - Beat, whose goal is to end the pain and suffering to those affected by eating disorders whilst offering support to their carers, families and friends. We are particularly keen on supporting Beat given their landmark funding received from both the NHS and the National Lottery, with which they aim to reduce waiting times for treatment, train more people to recognise the early signs and symptoms of these illnesses and thus enable early intervention. The earlier the treatment, the better chance of recovery.
So, please come and support our Fun Run and Cake Sale at Waldringfield sailing club on Saturday 9th November. Although the run isn’t until November, we would love you to start donating now. We are keen to try to beat last year’s fundraise total of £1825.00, so please encourage your family, friends and even vague acquaintances, either to take part or donate. This is our chance to help end the torture of eating disorders and change people’s lives for good.
Lots of love from,
Cara, Lucie, Bea, Hazel, Daisy and Anna
