Hello to all!!!
My name is Yel Lourenco,
First off, I want to thank all of you for taking the time to visit my Justgiving page.
So on the 16th May 2014, I suffered a severe seizure and was admitted to Charring Cross Hospital to have an MRI scan on my brain which revealed a large posterior frontal cavernoma (4cm diameter) with an intra-lesional bleed and is located near eloquent areas.
If I don't remove the cavernoma, I risk bleeds in the future which I have been told by neurologists, could significantly affect my functions such as; Speech, Behaviour and Movement on the right side of my body. As well as a risk to life.
Without a second thought, I have decided to go under the knife and remove the lesion. My surgery date will be on the 24/09/2014. I will be expecting a beautiful little girl :) this year in late December and my partner lives in Australia. This has been my biggest motivation to have this life saving surgery and make a full recovery for both my family over here in London, and my growing family that is in Sydney, Australia... as well as for myself... to be able to come out of this better and a healthier man, being able to live a life without a risk of further seizures... or worse.
So I have started this Justgiving page to show my support to others diagnosed with Cavernomas and making the brave decision to go under the knife as I am. I am going to have to shave my long curly locks before surgery and I will try and get as many people as possible to join me to shave their hair with me and show their support to the Cavernoma Alliance UK (CAUK).
Thank you all for your support and donations!!!
