We offer expert care, guidance and support to people living with a terminal illness

Story

For families facing terminal illness, Christmas can seem impossibly hard.

Our aim this year is to raise £14,961 to fund 748 hours of expert nursing care and emotional support across Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. With your help we can ensure that people living with a terminal illness in Yorkshire are able to stay at home in the comfort of their own bed surrounded by the people and things they love this festive season.

  • £20 will pay for an hour of expert care and support from a Marie Curie Nurse in their own home
  • £180 will pay for a whole night of care from a Marie Curie Nurse for someone living with a terminal illness and their family
Whether you are able to donate for an hour of care or a full night of care we would be so grateful for your support. Because you care, we can.

There are lots of ways you can support our Christmas Appeal this year, including:

  • Sadly our Christmas Collections won't be happening in the same way this year but instead we are encouraging people to give  virtually. If you would usually donate to one of our Christmas collectors or take part in a collection yourself then you can donate here and encourage friends and family to do the same
  • Take part in the 12Ks of Christmas. Run, walk, cycle or swim your chosen distance over the first 12 days in December
  • Choose your own unique way to festive fundraise! Hold a festive quiz, a Christmas dress up day or simply donate what you would have spent on your taxi fare to the Christmas do
  • Cash Not Cards. Could you make a small donation to Marie Curie instead of buying and sending Christmas cards this year? We will provide you with a personal downloadable picture to send on to those you would’ve sent a card to so they know you’ve supported our nurses instead. Once you have made your donation just email us at yorkshire@mariecurie.org.uk for your personalised image (NB There is an example image of what we will send you in the gallery of this Just Giving page)
  • Dec Your Desk. Decorate your workspace and donate £5 to this Just Giving page. Post a picture of your makeover tagging Marie Curie UK and using the hashtag #decyourdesk Then nominate a friend or colleague to do the same!
  • Simply make your own personal donation to this page. Could your workplace do the same? Your support matters and makes a difference. Thank you.

When you have made your donation please do download and share the "I'm proud to support" photo from this page and share with your friends and family to encourage them to do the same. (To download the image you need to click on the Christmas Trees at the top of this page to open up the gallery and then click on the arrow to scroll right. Scroll right until you reach the image that says "I'm proud to support", and then if you right click on the snow globe you will be able to either save or copy the image to use on a social media post. Alternatively just email us to request the image at yorkshire@mariecurie.org.uk and we will send this over via email for you to use).

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
