Story

For those of you that don't know my Dad - Barry Robinson - sadly passed away on 30th January 2012 aged 68. The loss of him from my life has been massive, and I miss him more that I can possibly convey here. I wanted to do something in his memory & raise some money for the BHF. My brother Simon has been fundraising for the BHF, with Northampton Saints RFC, for the last 10 years & Dad was a season ticket holder at the Saints, so I hope he would approve.

I am going to run 6 x Half Marathons and 8 x Marathons over the next year to mark the 68 years of my Dad’s life. I have not prepared very well for any of the races and I am struggling to get any training done for each one, so they are all hard work. I have never done much distance running before, so this is very much a new challenge for me, and hopefully I can raise some money for a worthy cause. I have done ones in green and I have got the following runs in red lined up:

Saints With A Heart Half Marathon (May 2012) - 2:30:00
Sheffield Half Marathon (May 2012) - 2:08:50
Wales Marathon (June 2012) - 5:37:10
Shifnall Half Marathon (July 2012) - 1:59:01
Wolverhampton Marathon (September 2012) - 5:48:55
Nottingham Half Marathon (September 2012) - 02:12:01
Leicester Marathon (October 2012) - 05:39:11
Luton Marathon (November 2012) - 05:30:00
Wellingborough Santa Run Half Marathon (December 2012) - 02:10:30
Milton Keynes Marathon (January 2013) - 05:49:26
North Downs Way Marathon (February 2013) – 07:45:00 (ish)
Pitsford Water Marathon (March 2013) - 06:05:03
Northampton Half Marathon (March 2013) – as Bernie
London Marathon (April 2013) - as Bernie

My place for London is confirmed now, and I will be running it in the costume of the mascot from Northampton Saints RFC – Bernie the St. Bernard (see picture) just to make it harder on myself and to hopefully raise a bit more cash. Hopefully I will also run the half marathon preceding London in the costume too. The London marathon will be 3 days after what would have been my Dad’s 70 birthday – so I am sure it will be emotional and a great motivation for me.

So please dig deep and sponsor me if you can. We have got plenty of time to get as much money in for the BHF as possible, so I have put in a very optimistic target. If can get anywhere near that it would be brilliant. Thanks for looking and I hope that you and yours are all well.
