Story

The Fine & Country Foundation is fundraising to support the people of Ukraine in their desperate time of need. All funds raised by the Foundation will be sent to the Disasters Emergency Committee an umbrella group of UK charities which coordinates and launches collective appeals to raise funds to provide emergency aid and rapid relief to people caught up in disasters and humanitarian crises around the world.

The Fine & Country Foundation has, like many of us across the world, been appalled and saddened by the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. We have worked hard as an organisation to understand how we can best help those who have been, and continue to be, affected by the violence.

We want to show the people of Ukraine that they are at the forefront of our minds at this uncertain and, frankly, frightening time. Therefore, The Foundation has made a donation of £15,000 Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC), and will be encouraging agents across the network along with the general public to also donate to the worthwhile cause, which unites 15 member charities who are experts in humanitarian aid and disaster response. These donations will be made possible through monetary pledges from our supportive and charitable network of Fine & Country locations globally, we hope our efforts will go some way in helping these specialist charities to provide support to people, less fortunate than ourselves, who are suffering – through no fault of their own.

The British Red Cross, an organisation part of the DEC, describes the crisis in Ukraine as ‘a tense, dangerous, and distressing time.’ They report that in some areas, water, electricity, and phone connectivity have been affected and that many people are taking cover from the shelling in basements and bomb shelters, but are going without the most basic supplies. Ongoing and regular contributions from The Foundation could make a significant difference in the lives of those impacted by way of providing food, first aid, clean water, shelter support, warm clothing, hygiene parcels and medicines. As well as supporting hospitals and healthcare facilities.

In addition to providing financial support for relief efforts on the ground, many of our colleagues across the Fine & Country network have also been collecting donations in the form of hygiene and baby products, as well as clothing and medical supplies to send to the devastated country. For these efforts, and for the efforts of individuals and businesses globally, we are profoundly grateful.

If you would like to contribute via the Foundation, please follow the link here to our JustGiving page. 100% of these donations will go directly to the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC).

We sincerely hope that Ukrainian civilians and all innocent parties in this shocking crisis stay safe and remain in the highest spirits they can during this time, and that our donation can bring solace to as many families as possible. We stand with you.

About the charity

The Fine & Country Foundation has been created to help combat one of the largest social issues in the UK – homelessness. Last year, the Government estimated around 2,414 people sleep on the street on any one night across England, a rise of 36% over three years. Often the reasons for homelessness are misunderstood, with many blaming the individuals for poor life decisions and carelessness. The reality is: people become homeless for a whole range of complex and overlapping reasons that cannot be avoided, such as family breakdowns, mental or physical health problems or debts. Solving homelessness does not only involve putting a roof over people’s heads, it is also trying to tackle the root of the problem and asking the question: why did they became homeless in the first place? The Fine & Country Foundation is dedicated to bringing together all Fine & Country agents in over 300 locations worldwide to raise awareness of the causes of homelessness whilst supporting homeless charities.
