Story
Hi, my name is Hayley Bicker, I'm from Crewe and I am the Community Champion at the Tesco Extra store on Vernon Way in Crewe.
I am eager to take on the Locked in for Autism challenge, to raise as much awareness and general understanding of the condition.
In our busy store, I have witnessed first-hand the agitated behaviour of a child with autism and I feel compelled to help Caudwell Children educate people about the condition, after seeing the bewildered and confused reaction of onlooker's to the incident.
I will be living on my own inside the 3m x 2m glass box, in the foyer of Tesco Extra for 100 hours, with nothing more than a sleeping bag and hopefully lots of public support!
Hopefully by doing this, I'll grab lots of attention and it will allow Caudwell Children staff and volunteers to engage with the public and talk about the support they offer to autistic children and their families.
As a Mum of 2, needless to say I'm going to miss my kids massively - so please come and support me during my stay in the glass box - it's all happening at Tesco Extra, Vernon Way, Crewe, CW1 2DD.
I will enter the glass box at 12pm on Tuesday 18th November and not leave until 4pm on Saturday 22nd November 2014 - that's 100 hours in total! I have a strict 5 minute break every 2 hours and limited use of my mobile phone. Everyone is welcome, and we are busy planning a few surprises in-store.
If you can't come to see me in person, then please donate whatever you can here - thank you
Lots of love,
Hayley x
