As many of you may or may not be aware, I'm going to be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro (5985m) in July with 24 other students from Durham University. After this, we will then take part in a community project in Tanzania, working first-hand to improve the lives of children and their families.

I've got to raise £2800 for the trip, which is a pretty hefty target. That being said, £1400 of this will go straight to Save the Children, a charity that works to improve the lives of underprivileged children both in the UK and abroad. The remainder of the money will go towards flights and the placement of community work.  Money donated through this site will go straight to my Save the Children total.

My individual total of £1400 for Save the Children will contribute to a massive group total of £35,000. That's big money, all of which will go to their “Children’s Emergency Fund”. This is a fund of one million pounds that is used to provide immediate relief to children and their families in disaster situations. Without this fund, it takes the charity time to raise sufficient money to be able to act – time that these life-threatened children do not have.

Now this would be a pretty big challenge for the best of them, but this is me, THE GIRL THAT GOT SHIN SPLINTS IN FIRST YEAR JUST FROM WALKING UP THE HILL TO COLLEGE, and before this year didn't "do" exercise. But that's not to say I'm not going to do it... I'm already in hardcore training and more determined than ever to make it to the top. I know loads of people are asking for money at this time, but this really is going to be a massive personal challenge, so dig deep for this extremely worthwhile cause.
