We safeguard the Highland Cattle Breed to preserve its past and promote its future

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

No first visit to Scotland is complete unless you have seen at least one of these hairy, horned, hardy cattle in their native landscape. The breed is synonymous with our Scottish heritage.

The Highland Cattle Society manages the historic herd book of the magnificent Highland Cattle breed. And has done so since records began in 1885.

The Society works hard to support its members - whether they own two highland cattle or whether their fold extends to 100's of animals. It does this in many ways, including attendance at shows up and down the country and by organising its own Biannual Shows and Sales at Oban.

The Society is looking to do more to support and develop the breed. But it cannot do so using existing resources - its membership fees won't stretch that far. Which is where fundraising, and your support, comes in - to help the historic Highland Cattle breed maintain its status as Scotland's national breed for future generations.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

About the charity

The Highland Cattle Society is the guardian of one of Britain's oldest, most distinctive, and best loved native breeds. We are custodians of its glorious history; supporters and educators of today's owners, breeders and handlers; and champions of the breed, fighting for its future survival.
