Fundraising for Mercury Phoenix Trust
Story
The infinitigamesuk Livestream is a small community driven charity stream. We stream regularly with the aim of building a friendly and close-knit community whilst raising money for some great causes along the way.
We are raising money for the Mercury Phoenix Trust - fighting AIDS worldwide!
HIV/AIDS is seen by many as a problem which is firmly in the past, but this could not be further from true.
AIDS was first discovered in 1981, and during the 35 years since then: 35 million people have died of complications related to AIDS, and over 70 million people have been infected with HIV. Compare this to the most recent pandemic - Ebola, which has killed to date only 11,315 people.
Cases of HIV are back on the rise again after a period of mild stability in the early 2000s. This is due to a severe decrease in funding by individuals and international governments to charities combating the virus.
If the UN's goal of ending AIDS by 2030 is to be achieved the work of charities like The Mercury Phoenix Trust is essential. The MPT supports over 700 projects in 57 different countries worldwide - mainly small grassroots organisations.
