Bruce Kettle is raising money for The Lewy Body Society
In memory of Gay Kettle
Donations cannot currently be made to this page
Lewy body dementia is the second most common cause of age-related dementia, affecting around 130,000 people in the UK. We raise awareness of the disease, provide information to patients and carers, and fund research so that in future it can be more easily diagnosed and treated.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On 24th July 2020 our beautiful wife, mother, Nanny and Great Nanny left us peacefully after a long illness. Gay suffered from Parkinson's Dementia with Lewy Bodies, a debilitating disease that slowly takes independence and everything away.

Always the hostess with the mostest, Gay touched so many lives in many different ways but always with a smile and an unending energy, something that ebbed away in the last few years.

From founding Wheathampstead Ladies Circle, being Area Chairman for Hertfordshire and a founder member of the Inner Wheel Club of Harpenden Village to  taking an active part in her professional organisation and running of the British Association of Dental Therapists, becoming President in 1996, to being awarded an MBE in the New Year Honours of 2003. She was also an active member of her school's Old Girls committee for many years, and was latterly a Governor. In her spare time (!), Gay ran a successful catering enterprise and managed her family’s property portfolio. A lover of travel, she enjoyed many family holidays driving to the sunnier parts of Europe and elsewhere.

Gay always had a fridge full of food and a heart full of love for her family and friends and anyone who dropped by! She will be greatly missed by many but her memory will stay strong in our hearts.

Please, if you can spare a few pennies then maybe we can get a better understanding of this horrible disease that saps a life away.
