In 2013 she was diagnosed with Mesothelioma, a rare, asbestos-related cancer. Since it is not particularly well-known, signs & symptoms of the disease are often overlooked or mistaken for other diseases. In 2013 there were 2 specialist Mesothelioma nurses in the country. With the help of Mesothelioma UK Charitable Trust there are now 11. It is our wish to support this charity so that the diagnostic pathway & available treatments for the disease can improve.
