Story
On Saturday, April 25 a massive 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal killing over 8700 people and injuring 22,200. Over 1,1million children were left in urgent need of assistance and more that half a million homes were destroyed. Since the earthquake donors have pledged over $3bn towards Nepal’s reconstruction efforts.
But, as welcome as this money is, the sad reality is that Nepal is ill-equipped to ensure that this money will really help those who most need it. With winter fast approaching, poor management of these funds can mean the difference between life and death for the people who are working so hard to rebuild their lives.
With your support, Integrity Action can ensure that aid reaches those who lost their homes, and access to safe drinking water and healthcare. To do this, Integrity Action will work with local volunteers, training them
as community monitors which not only allows them to understand how and when the humanitarian relief effort will be spent but empowers them to access it for effective use. Integrity Action knows that introducing an oversight mechanism like community monitors makes it harder for aid to be wasted.
Help us this Christmas to ensure that those worst affected by the earthquake will be able to access the vital basic services they deserve.
