Story

I have Cerebral Palsy myself and would like to raise money and awareness of this disability. This will also contribute to helping other individuals who also suffer from this condition. Coronavirus has had a huge effect on charities ability to raise funds so I want to play my part.

I can't describe how hard it has been for me physically and mentally, I never really recovered from My Marathon in 2016 and It broke my heart not being able to fully run again due to doctors orders. Instead I was introduced to the Health shop Mansfield who helped me out with various treatments and now I can fight the pain and I'm also running again. My next Marathon was 2019 and after a tough race I completed it despite all the challenges. I would like to build on this and raise even more money for charity.

I ran the Robin Hood Marathon (September 2016) It was my challenge and I did it, It got hard and I hit a wall but I didn't give up! I was 18 miles in when my legs gave up on me, I had to have a word with myself and remind myself about why I was doing the marathon and that spurred me over the line to complete the race. The same happened in 2019 at the Rutland marathon but I ran on and battled through.

I have a different challenge now, I'm going to push my body to the limits to run/walk as far as possible for this great cause.  I'm doing this because I want to help people who suffer from Cerebral Palsy and show I can put my disability aside to achieve great things. I'm putting my everything into this and I'm determined to succeed.

All I want to do is put my everything into this and raise money for a truly fantastic cause. I'm committed to do the healthy eating, train hard and progress with my physio to ensure I complete the challenge. Nothing means more to me than helping people and that's what I want to do throughout my whole life.

How Cerebral Palsy affects me:

Cerebral Palsy effects me in a physical way mostly with my legs. It causes me to have weak muscles, walk on my toes (dues to problems with my Achilles Tendons) I can pull my muscles and get injured really easily and I suffer with a lot of pain in my legs especially during sport.I have physio to help maintain strength in my legs and I also have to perform stretches and wear night splints to help my muscles. I suffer with fatigue and mobility but I don’t let it stop me. I  have took part in sport all my life despite setbacks and running the challenge will be my biggest challenge yet!

The money I raise will help support and contribute towards buying equipment for activities to encourage children and adults to exercise and stay fit. The money raised will  also contribute to Cerebral Palsy suffers getting the help and support they desperately need in their daily life which others take for granted.

Cerebral palsy is caused by damage to the motor control centers of the developing brain and can occur during pregnancy , during childbirth, or after birth up to about age three.

All donations very much appreciated by me and the charity Cerebral Palsy Sport.
