Story

Hi, thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My name's Jackie and I'll be attempting to swim the channel this year in aid of the Huntington's Disease Association, an organisation which offers support to sufferers and their families, as well as promoting research of this little-known, incurable disease.

I have experienced the effects that this disease can have through my extended, yet close, family.

The money I hope to raise by swimming the channel will go towards research into Huntington's Disease - an hereditary disorder of the central nervous system. There is no cure at present. More information can be found through the following link www.hda.org.uk

To prepare for this feat, I have trained for five years - taken part in two channel relay swims, a solo swim of the length of lake Windermere - and undergone two operations to repair the rotator cuffs on both shoulders! At 56 years old, I am hoping to be one of the few old dears to have completed the task!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now. Thank you!
