Story

Hello,

Really hope you can help me raise money for this important cause.

Although I have been running very regularly since school, I would never really run more than 12k. Last autumn, however, I pushed up my distances and timings.

Since then I have done my best with my training. I also promise I am cutting back on my cigarette consumption...

I am often out and about around the Isle of Wight dripping with sweat and looking very red in the face; I recently finished a half-marathon here in 1 hour 48 mins near Freshwater, Totland and the Needles, which apparently is quite good (it was v hilly).

Yet I still find reaching the 21.1k in a half-marathon quite tough. You really need quite a lot of determination to keep going and to keep up the pace... whilst avoiding checking work emails.

That is why I need your help to keep me determined to finish. Given the interlinked climate and environmental crises, this is also a really important cause. The pandemic has put into centre stage how societies across the world respond to crises. It feels to me like a rehearsal for the next worldwide crisis, which will almost certainly be climate related.

The Wildlife Trust is on the front-line of the efforts here in the UK to help nature recover and restore our environment as well helping to achieve wider aims to combat climate change and reach net-zero.

Hope you can help.

Thanks,

Jack
