Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page

In September and October we walked, trekked, paddled canoes, and drove through 4 African Countries.

We completed a 3,600 mile journey over 3 weeks and thanks to you we  have raised in sponsorship over £5,000 for Weston Park Cancer Charity

The story and Photos from the Adventure can be seen at:

Jim Beachill – 2015 Africa

Previously Jim has walked Hadrian’s Wall, driven from Coast to Coast across America, walked the Great Wall of China and trekked across Iceland.

This time I was accompanied by my wife Barbara, who had to be assured that they not at risk through Ebola. Jim’s assurance was “I wouldn’t worry about Ebola, you could contract Aids, get eaten by the wild animals or attacked by pirates or terroists before that !”

The task will once again be for the benefit of Weston Park Cancer Charity, as with several of the other bucket list tasks.

Jim explains “My wife was diagnosed with cancer and thanks to the treatment she obtained at Weston Park Hospital the disease has been in remission for over 10 years. She received excellent understanding and care in the time she was at Weston Park and ‘thank you’ is not adequate when you save someone’s life.

Thanks to places like Weston Park, who are also in the front line in the battle to find cures for  the disease, recovery and survival rates have improved but when Cancer Research UK forecast that 50% of people will contract cancer before they die you realise that it is not going away and effects everyone
