Story

Hi Everyone!

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.  If you didn't know I am running the 2009 London Marathon in less than one week!...April 26, 2009 to be exact.  For those of you who have played soccer with me over the years you know I've never quite been a fan of running...especially not long distances.  However, running a marathon has always been something I have wanted to accomplish and more importantly I'm running on behalf of a great cause.  More specifically, that cause is the Vision Charity.

Can you possibly imagine growing up as a kid and not being able to watch Saturday morning cartoons, unable to play sports with the rest of your classmates because you cannot see the ball, or unable to learn as quickly and efficiently as others because of your disability.  To be perfectly honest, I cannot.  But I do appreciate all the beauty that there is in this world and young children with visual impairments, blindess and dyslexia deserve a fair chance to experience the world and all of its opportunities just as well as any other.  For this reason I have chosen to run on behalf of the Vision Charity.  The Vision Charity helps to raise funds to help children with these disabilities to achieve their full potential and expand their horizions.   (www.visioncharity.co.uk)

As many of you know I have also been travelling a fair bit over the last month but rest assured I have not ignored my training.  Granted the training has sometimes taken the form of a 7hr jungle trek (7hrs wasn't exactly planned beforehand), sea-kayaking, rock climbing, running around 1000 year old Cambodian temples, or hiking several hundred meters up to Machu Picchu but the result and my desire to complete this marathon...running (as in not walking..at all) and in the respectable time of 4hrs still remains...as many of you whom I have met on my travels can attest.

Please do you best to donate whatever you can...every little bit helps and if it's just a dollar, then that is one dollar more to helping these children!

Much love,

James
