Story

Firstly, thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

For some reason last year whilst watching the London Marathon from the comfort of my 'armchair' I, thought to myself 'I should do the marathon next year.'  It had been the same statement every year.......  However, this time I did something about it, I entered the ballot and to my surprise I was one of the "lucky" few selected from the draw.

So, I am jogging the London Marathon this year - my training has started and I plan, subject to bad knees and other rugby related injuries to complete the marathon in about 6 hours (anywhere between 6:00:00 and 6:59:59 will be an achievement).

I want to use the good fortune of being selected to raise money for a charity that I care passionately about:

The Ex-Services Mental Welfare Society, Combat Stress - for over 80 years they have been the only services charity specialising in helping men and women of all ranks from the Armed Forces and the Merchant Navy suffering from psychological disability as a result of their military service.

Combat Stress offers short stay remedial treatment at three specialist short-stay treatment centres in Shropshire,Surrey and Ayrshire. These provide a range of treatments including psychiatric support and occupational therapy to help veterans rebuild their lives and provide a break for the families of traumatised veterans.

I hope you will help me raise money for this charity and also support me in what will be a challenge to jog 26 miles and 385 yards.

Thank you,

Jeremy
