Story

STOP PRES (ONE WEEK LATE)

I DID IT !!!!!

It was fantastic, really hot, very very emotional and at one point very strange as dehydration/flu kicked in at 18 miles.  But loved every minute of it, grinned all the way around, legs were fine God Bless those worcestershire hills just a few bursting blisters on the way so crocs all week.

If it was not for the 14 weeks of training I would gladly do it again maybe New York for my next 0 birthday.

Unlike normal runners I stopped to speak to firends and family on the way, although I missed some at Cutty Sark - sorry Lily x.

Big Big thank you to my travelling supporters my girl Alice, Richard, Sue, Julie, Jess and Helen (hope the sun was not too hot !!) and the many others texting in from home, my church for praying for me, Robert for singing to me plus big thanks to claire for helping to get me ready by looking after my diet and lemsips  in the final week !!!. No champagne at the end but a nice pint of London pride when i got home to be greeted by my jumping mother at 11pm !!.

The crowds were brilliant, did not know how many people in London knew my name !!, went past Katie and Peter, lined up on the start line next to a Womble (that was before the heat kicked in !!), sang with Elvis and danced to Madness on route !! What a day, official time was 6 hours but I really did not mind as I have nearly reached my Marathon total and managed to get around when I was still not too well - excuses eh !! next time it will be 3 hours !!

I am back in London for a 10K in a couple of weeks and have a half marathon booked for June 3rd then finish off the year with the Great North and who knows New York !!!

Big hug to Dad I hope the girl did you proud !!!!

Love Jill XXXX

ITS TOMORROW SO ALL PRAY FOR ME

As you can see from the total you have all been fantastic and I am nearly at 2000 you beautiful, generous people you !! So nervous but cannot wait now could have had a few more days to get over this dreaded cold but hey life is never perfect.  Be thinking of you all tomorrow and I am sure Dad will be looking down and cheering me on too !! Mum will run every mile from her armchair and I will be ticking off the miles through some of the streets that I grew up in but hopefully not stop off at the pubs I frequented in my youth though !that would not be wise !

23/4/09

Been to excel and picked up my number, still not quite got rid of the cold but am hopeful another couple of days will help.

Not run for a few days now and feel almost caged in so looking forward to the small run of 26 miles on Sunday.  I am doing a final run around tomorrow in my baggy top etc and also trying to get more money.  Not sure yet what I have on sponsor forms as most have gone missing !!! BUT I have one that has nearly £400 on it and some others with less I know.  Thanks for all your kind words and good wishes I am quite overwhelmed by it all.  So lets hope I get round !!!!

21st April Happy Birthday Robert !!!

JILLY HAS THE WICKHAM FLU, lots of paracetamol and sleep as need to recover !!!

12th April

LAST LONG RUN ONLY 13 miles !!! Richard has flu so i got lost in Worcester trying to put in some mile, now it is tapering whatever that it and I am drinking full fat coke and eating pasta until the 26th !!!

6th April

So I ran 20 miles, yes 20 miles, partly due to the fact we lost the car but anyway I did it !!!

30/3/09

So after 4 hours sleep "jilly no mates" ends up at Reading for the 1/2 marathon.  The route was not too scenic and I could not open my running gels and I decided to sprint into the stadium - felt like I was playing for England BUT I did a PB even though I missed my fella on the bike !!! Time ok at 2.29 expect I could have gone faster if it wasn't for the gels !! One hour to get out of reading and find the m4 then home !!! So next sunday the big 20 mile run, I have bought a box of gels as I need about 6 on route, hopefully no hills !!!

22/3/09

OK all I finally broke the 13 mile barrier last weekend, did 16 miles on Sunday, R forgot phone at 4 miles and I carried on while he returned home, as most of you know I have not got a clue when it comes to directions so being left in the middle of the countryside was great fun !! Lucky I had my ipod.  Other news I have my race number 45972 got a certain ring to it !!so it is getting way too close.  Off to do the Reading half on Sunday which should be nice.

19/3/09

OK starting to get really scared now, got through that birthday thing and now it seems closer than ever.  Last Sunday did about 13 miles at Stratford, this week got Richard to take me somewhere that did not involve hills or mud and it was great,  We kept getting stopped by people saying how unfair it was that richard was on a bike !!! Anyway the gels and potions are working a treat, my shorter runs are getting faster and I am going for a 14 mile plus this weekend I wish it would be along the coast.  I am sending out sponsor forms to you all so you can drum up some support and money plus i am now carrying one around too, St Richards needs our help.  When this is over I am going to do some voluntary work there if they will have me and just stick to half marathons.  Mum is getting excited and I will be paying richard not to post the various pics of me during training !! So just a six mile tomorrow which will be nice for a change and lets hope the weather is fine !!!

27/'2/09 THE CURE WERE BRILLENT, NME AWARDS GREATEST HITS SEt AND NEW STUFF AT THE O2. TRAINING WILL RESUME AS NORMAL TOMORROW

Hi Everyone

Yes it is true I am running the London, bit short notice for me but I have stepped up my training so whatever happens I will make it across that line  So sorting out my ipod and I am sure Robert will help me over the 26 miles eh...

Who would have thought when I did that first 5K that it would come to this, I remember several years ago watching the race from a riverside pub and thinking the people running it were all mad !!.  Anyway I have alot of training and fund raising to go and this time I am running in memory of Dad for our local hospice.  Alice as you know has been working for Acorns our local childrens hospice and I am now raising funds for the adult one and it needs all the support and help it can get.

I am thinking of creative fundraising ideas starting off with a cake sale in January (don't worry not my cakes) and then february a supper party - thx for the idea Claire (do worry my cooking) plus other events are planned

So watch this space,Alice is getting facebook sorted so you can read my running blog etc, so pass on the word.
