Story

Hello, thanks for visiting our page.

It was March 2007 that we secured our places for the 2009 Marathon des Sables.  At that time we had it in mind to also raise money for charity but had not given much thought to which.

Early in 2008 we became aware of Help For Heroes and this soon became a logical choice for our charity.  I, Jim am ex army with 22 years service, Lee is my son.  Relatives and friends have served in the Forces, Army and Navy, and some still serve so our connection is strong.

We hope you will agree that this is such a worthwhile cause and wish to contribute to our fundraising.

The race itself, well we know it will not be easy, but if it was then it wouldn’t be such a challenge.  I will be 54 when I take part so I don’t expect to win unless there is some Grand National style falling over disaster.  Seriously though my target is to cross the finish line and raise money for H4H, I will be happy with that no matter what position I come in.  Lee racing at age 22 will hope to finish a bit further up the field but again will be happy just to cross the finish line of “the toughest footrace in the world”.

Thank you for your donation and for supporting us in our challenge and Help For Heroes.
