Story

Elsie Jessica Carr couldn’t wait!

She came into this world on 30thApril 2015 and was born at 29 weeks gestation (11 weeks early). Weighing a tiny2lbs 10.5oz and she spent the first 10 weeks of her life on The Neonatal Unit atOrmskirk Hospital.  We didn’t thinkanyone so small, weak and fragile could have survived but Elsie amazed us bothand showed great determination and was such a little fighter from the start.

She overcame every needle prick, investigative procedure, oxygen requirement, blood transfusion, lumbar punctureetc etc. (The list goes on and on). Without all the help and dedication from allthe staff on the neonatal unit, whether it was from the top consultant or atrainee nurse, we really didn’t think our little bundle of joy would have survived.

The team of nurses were there for Sam and I throughoutour emotional roller coaster and provided us with love & support and helpedus through possibly the worst experience of our lives. We have made some greatfriends and we are truly thankful to everyone on the unit and we would like toshow our appreciation by raising a large amount of money for them. The money weraise will go towards updating and buying new equipment for the unit...but thiscannot be achieved without your help!

We are both doing a personal challenge. I am doing a Skydive on Sunday 7th Feb 2016. This will mean jumping from a plane at 15,000ft...yikes! I have neverbeen great with heights and I am very accident prone. So wish me luck!

Sam will be cycling from Manchester over the top of the pennies all the way to Sheffield on July 3rd 2016 This will mean taking on the long steep hills of the Snake pass...Anyonewho knows Sam’s cycling habits, will know he does NOT do hills!

Please find it in your hearts to help us by donating to our just givingpage. Any amount really will help as the money we raise, really is needed.

Many  Thanks

Jo & Sam :-)
