Commercial analyst – Crowdfunding product team

Commercial analyst – Crowdfunding product team

We are seeking a commercial analyst to directly influence product, marketing and strategy by drawing insights from analysis and providing a fact base for decision making.  We are committed to growing the crowdfunding donation volume to £90m in 2018, growth of 40% from £63m in 2017.

 Us in a snapshot:

We are the market leader in online fundraising, providing a platform for both registered charities and peer-to-peer crowdfunding for good causes.

 About the role:

  • You will own the performance narrative for the team.
  • You will use your extensive analytical experience to develop insights from a range of internal and external sources and use it to influence stakeholder decision making within marketing and product.
  • You will be responsible for explaining and communicating how and why we are performing as we are, what we have learned from recent tests and recommending what we do next.

As the 'learn' in the build, measure, learn framework, you will remain focussed on delivering the highest amount of growth by:

  • Analysing macro performance of where we are now, understanding and communicating external market and internal product/marketing drivers of performance.
  • Analysing the micro effects of specific product and marketing tests and developments, to understand impact and recommend iterations.
  • Maintain the CF performance narrative to the team and wider business to empower company-wide contribution to growth ideas.
  • Ruthlessly prioritise product and marketing development options to ensure we always work on the things most likely to drive the most amount of growth.
  • Design, structure, and measure fair experiments including statistical analysis.

  • You will determine our KPI’s, which are likely to be versions of acquisitions by channel, conversion, activation, referral, value, retention etc
  • You will then build dashboards and ensure they remain fit for purpose.
  • You will use SQL to write queries to extract data including joins.  It is not necessary to be able to optimise for performance or write / maintain databases as we have DBAs for that.
  • You will use your understanding of statistics and research methods to design fair experiments and analyse data using appropriate statistical techniques

In short you should be integral to the team because of your confident narrative, trusted by the business due to your excellence in sharing findings, willing to contribute growth ideas having gone the extra mile to unveil the really valuable buried insights, keen to help and willing to learn, with initiative to define priorities and drive growth.

About You:

First and foremost, you must be a highly quantitative analyst with a passion for measuring performance, testing hypotheses and understanding patterns.  You probably have a degree or post grad qualification in maths or science.  In addition, you will have a good level of commercial experience in the tech/web sectors so you can demonstrate successes and failures you’ve learned from.

You will be a master of finding the balance between managing data complexity/imperfection and the need to move quickly to get things done. You will need to be a fast, efficient and effective communicator.

You must be able to:

  • Formulate hypotheses and design and measure experiments, developing insights and making recommendations for iteration.
  • Combine internal analysis with external market trends for strategic recommendations and business cases.
  • Building and own BI reports for your own use to keep the team informed.
  • Own the specification for web analytics tracking, ensuring our products collect the data you require.
  • Communicate to all levels of seniority and technical/quant skill, tailoring the level of detail to fit the audience.
  • Understand hypothesis testing, AB testing and statistical significance concepts.
  • Manage with limited supervision and rigorously prioritise.
  • Model scenarios and write business cases to make product, marketing and strategic decisions.

If you had one ‘holy grail’ achievement in your career to date, it would be empowering a team to understand performance, giving insights that lead to a pivot or a tangible action that increased growth.
