PR Manager: 12-month maternity cover

An exciting opportunity to play a lead role in building and maintaining JustGiving's reputation as a global platform that is growing the world of giving 

Objective of the role

To work with the CMO and the broader marketing team to develop positions and deliver campaigns that secure JustGiving’s corporate strategy and PR goals amongst its key audiences, specifically: 

  • Positioning JustGiving as the number one platform where people go to change lives and make good things happen
  • Maintaining JustGiving's reputation as the number one fundraising platform for charities
  • Securing JustGiving's reputation as a global platform that is growing the world of giving

Key responsibilities

  • Generate meaningful media coverage that enhances JustGiving’s reputation as the leading expert that is trusted and innovative in the world of giving
  • Identify, oversee, organise and attend media interviews, events and speaking engagements for the senior leadership team
  • To provide professional advice to JustGiving’s management on media and public relations matters, both proactive and reactive
  • Frontline media and crisis management where there are significant issues concerning the reputation of the JustGiving brand
  • Management of external agencies and relationship building with key media contacts and influencers

You will also:

  • Develop and write communications plans, blog posts, statements, speeches and social media posts – reactive, ad-hoc
  • Ensure PR is aligned with content marketing, SEO, paid and other forms of digital and direct marketing
  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with members of the marketing, charity partnerships and crowdfunding teams to support and promote JustGiving’s activities to consumer and charity audiences
  • Support the external profile of JustGiving’s senior leadership team, ensuring that the right people are briefed to address the right issues and audiences

Person specification:

  • 7 years PR & Comms experience, with some in-house experience highly preferable
  • A news junkie - great at spotting opportunities and hooks, confident in pitching to journalists and has a track record for securing stand-out media coverage in the form of interviews, profiles and op-eds in the national and charity trade press
  • Any experience in charity, campaigning or TechForGood highly beneficial, as is a background in media

You will be quick to take the initiative and willing to roll your sleeves up, comfortable acting as an army of one with guidance or instruction.  Adept at exercising tact, diplomacy and excellent judgement when handling media enquiries and working with key stakeholders, you will also be an effective communicator with excellent writing skills, diligence and attention to detail
