Story
Hi Everyone,
Thanks for visiting our fundraising page.
Wendy & John are participating in a weekend trek up Ben Nevis in September to raise money for The Alzheimer's Society.
The summit of Ben Nevis is at 4,409ft above sea level. It is the highest point in the British Isles.
The trek runs from Friday to Sunday and is based out of Fort William in Scotland. Climbing Ben Nevis is planned for the Saturday going up the western flank, and should take about 8 hours in all provided we get good weather conditions. The trek starts at sea level. Apparently in September the midges are fewer but there may well be snow on the top!
We regard Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia as a very important and much neglected cause to fund raise for. We both work with patients suffering from dementia and see first hand the devastating effects of this disease on sufferers and their families. Likewise we see how much good help and support can be of benefit to those same families. Increasing numbers of people are suffering from dementia and it is vital to raise funds for the charity so that patients and their families can get the support that they so vitally need.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Alzheimer's Society gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation. The cost of the trip is covered by the charity funds raised. We pay our own deposit & travel costs. All other monies raised go to the Alzheimer's Society via Alzheimer's Trading Limited.
You will not receive unsolicited contact from the charity.
So please sponsor us now!
We've also put some of our photographs on flickr.
