Story
On 7 June Helen, I and many others undertook the Clarendon Way walk (26 miles) between Winchester Cathedral and Salisbury Cathedral in aid of Naomi House Children's hospice and would be grateful for your support. While my feeble and aged body cannot match the heroic endavours of many others I am invited to sponsor, the cause is I think you will agree nonetheless a good one. And the forecast of heavy rain was unfulfilled and we had beautiful weather.
Naomi House, near where we live in Hampshire, does fantastic work with children whose life expectancy is limited and with their families. Its work is designed to help such families have 'good days' through respite care, and to cope with the many 'difficult days' from diagnosis onwards as well as where needed the 'last days' for which hospices are most well known, including bereavement care.
Due to the advances in healthcare many children with life threatening illnesses are of course living longer but their conditions often become more complex and their own needs for care - and some independence - change. Naomi House is currently building a linked hospice, "Jack's Place", especially for teenagers and young adults. It is due to open later this year and Naomi House urgently needs funds to complete the project and pay for its first years of operation.
Your support is really appreciated.
