Story
Hi Everyone, Thanks you for taking the time to visit my online fundraising page in support of Cancer Research UK!
As most of you are aware and have more than likely experienced yourselves, families are hit with the devastating news that a loved one has cancer everyday! No matter how old or how healthy you are, cancer can affect anyone at any stage in their life!
My first encounter with cancer was my Nan (Dads side), I was a little girl and at the time didnt realise why my Nan was in hospital, so sick with no hair. Sadly she died and i didnt get to know her as well as i would of liked to. She is missed very much and the memories i do have of her are tucked away safe in my heart.
Since my Nans passing, i have sadly watched many more family members and family friends die from Cancer. Each one had their own story to tell. They are all missed dearly and thought about everyday!
But when 2011 arrived so did the devastating news that cancer was back in the family, this time it wasnt just visiting once either.
Firstly May brought the bad news, that my own Mum had Breast cancer. She started treatment very quickly, rounds of chemotherapy followed by radiotherapy but sadly resulted in her losing her breast.
Once we got our heads around mum having cancer, August arrived . With it came the devastating news that Gramps (Mums Dad) had cancer again. His throat cancer had returned and this time there was nothing more the Doctors could do for him. He was too weak for Chemotherapy or radiotherapy. So he was made comfortable and we brought him home for his last few days. He sadly died on the 21st August 2011 surrounded by all that loved him.
His memory lives on today and forever will.
As most of you are aware, this was a very difficult time for my family. A horrible year that no one ever wants to repeat let alone wish on anyone else. But now just over a year and a half after his death and mums news of the all clear (and plans for reconstruction), ive decided its time i gave something back to a charity that helps so many people.
A charity that works so hard to help find a cure. That works so hard to try and beat cancer and helps families spend longer time together.
Therefore ive decided to shave all my hair off for Cancer Research. Some may call me crazy and some may call me brave.
But I see it as a way to raise an amazing amount money to help towards the ongoing battle to beat cancer for good! Hair grows back but sadly a loved one who has died from cancer doesnt!
By sponsoring me you can help more people survive cancer. Every pound you donate really does make a difference to Cancer Research UK’s life-saving work into preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer quickly!
So please sponsor me now! Dig deep and hunt out those loose pennies and pounds – it’s quick, easy and totally secure.
Together we will beat cancer.
Lots of love
