Story
Many of you will know that I’ve always enjoyed a lunchtime run
and have gradually progressed through the ranks of triathlon, increasing the
distances covered, developing an unhealthy obsession with heart rates, carb
gels & protein shakes and, most importantly, raising money for cancer charities
along the way.
The 6th of July will see me “suit up” to join 2,800 competitors
in swimming 3.8km, biking 180km all topped off with a marathon - Ironman
Frankfurt here I come….! With a target time of around 11 hours, I won’t win any
medals - simply crossing the finish line will be reward enough. It’s been a
tough winter with long nights in the garage on the turbo trainer and 5am starts
with the swim club but the plan backed up by Sleight determination has paid off
and I’m a lot fitter now than last summer, albeit continually tired and eating
anything that passes me by!
I will be completing this challenge in memory of my mum who passed away last
year and raising funds for Thames Hospice who took care of her. If you want to
help me in supporting them in the amazing work they do, then please donate via
justgiving.
