Story
Earlier this year, a friend from my local area took his own life. I knew him as a fun loving, larger than life guy, very sociable and outgoing. He always had a smile and a joke for me and my friends, and kept us amused with his knowledge of music, and tomfoolery. None of us expected what happened, but tragically this story is repeated far too often all around the UK. Every year, 1 in 4 people experiences a mental health problem, and suicide remains the most common cause of death in men under the age of 35.
At his funeral, his family asked for donations to MIND, the mental health charity. MIND provide advice and support to people experiencing a mental health problem, and to their family and friends. They campaign to raise awareness, promote understanding, and to improve services. The charity wants to make sure that nobody goes through a mental health crisis alone.
