Story

We’re running the Shrewsbury Half Marathon on June 23rd to remember our friend Úna.

Úna had an amazing gift for bringing people together; she was always gathering people for food or a cup of tea, and now in a similar way she had brought us all together to run the half-marathon for this great cause. Many of us first met Úna whilst studying at Edinburgh University. We shared lots of laughs, food, and exploring the beautiful city that Úna loved.

We’re running to celebrate her love of live and her amazing energy.

Úna found such joy in life. We want to run this marathon not only to remember her, but also to learn from her incredible spirit: making time for friends; challenging ourselves; living adventurously. She was always challenging us to try new things: baking mince pies (turns out it is not just easier to buy them in shops); mountain biking (turned out to be a lot of fun) or fish pie (turned out to be delicious). So now it’s time for us to do as Úna would have done, and try something else which is new for us; running a half-marathon!

We would really appreciate your donation, however large or small, to this incredible charity. Let’s have a laugh, raise some money and do her proud!
