Story
My name is Tasha, I'm 25, I'm from Blackburn, and I am putting my life on hold to help Caudwell Children raise more awareness, acceptance and understanding of autism.
I am living inside a glass box for 50 hours at the Tesco store in Blackburn. The 3m x 2m box will be located in the foyer of the 24 hour store - so I will be eating, sleeping and keeping myself entertained in full view of the public.
Why a glass box?
Many parents of autistic children have told the charity that living with the condition could be described as 'living inside a glass box'. The difficulty in communication, sense of feeling isolated and being stared at from all angles is what some children with autism experience.
Volunteers from Caudwell Children will be supporting me and on-hand during the challenge to provide advice and support to anyone interested in learning more about the condition - whether you have a child on the autism spectrum, are awaiting diagnosis and just want more general information.. Please come along and see for yourself.
This is all about raising autism awareness across Blackburn, and we would all love your support!
