Story

UPDATE 14/04/14: The London Marathon has come and gone again for another year.  For the last 16 weeks, the 3 of us prepared for that moment and as expected there were ups and downs along the way. The race itself was harder than expected due to the warmer than expected weather, but in the end we all got over the finish line and can be very proud of what we've achieved.

It's not too late to be a part of our story.  If you were holding out on us we'd love it if you could spare any amount, big or small, to help us hit our fundraising target for Sense.  The support they gave to us around the marathon course on the day was top notch, and we want to reward them with as much money as possible.

For all those who sponsored us, a massive thank you for your donations and support.  You're awesome!

Until next time...

Ad, Edd, Marc X

Sir Steve Redgrave once famously told a sports reporter in 1996 that if seen in a boat again, he'd have his permission to shoot him. 4 years and an unexpected diabetic diagnosis later he wins gold at the Sydney 2000 Olympics.

I didn't put such a reckless offer on the table after crossing the finish line in Florence, November 2011. But it had been a difficult marathon to train for and my inner monologue was screaming something similar very loudly going into the final stretch.

Fast forward to the present day and the gang sit here having taken the decision to run The London Marathon sorry, the Virgin Money London Marathon 2014. It had always been enjoyable to pick a european based event, pay the entry fee, jump on a Ryanair flight and try and raise a bit of money in the process. But having used London as a training pad for previous marathons it struck me that it would be be a great shame if we didn't run our home marathon at least once.

Cards on the table time – like many people we entered the race ballot for a place and like 8/10 entrees all left empty handed. However this gives us an opportunity to team up with Sense - a national charity that supports and campaigns for children and adults who are deafblind and we shall be running the race for them.

Over the next few months I am going to be a busy man indeed.  We shall be embarking on a rigourous training programme with the ultimate goal of finishing inside 3:30:00. This is no mean feat as my PB currently stands at 3:48:16!

On top of that we have pledged to raise £1500 each for the good people at Sense to support the vital work they do. Although we will be organising lots of great fundraising events over the coming months a journey of 26.2 miles begins with a single step, and we need all the help we can get.

There's no minimum donation – Literally every penny will count. Our challenge involves somewhere in the region of 46,112 steps. If you guys can take just one here for us today it would be worth every ache, muscle pain, blister and inevitable sweat along the way.

Much Love to you all! X
