Story
In August 2014, our daughter Amelia, was diagnosed with Severe Aplastic Anaemia which is a very rare disease. This disease affects bone marrow and its ability to produce red and white blood cells and platelets. This potentially fatal disease has a treatment plan that required a matched stem cell (bone marrow) donor.
Our whole family were tested but no one proved a suitable match. In December came the great news that the Anthony Nolan Trust had found Amelia a fully matched donor and that we could proceed to the Bone Marrow Transplant.
Amelia's transplant went ahead on Christmas Eve 2014, and as a family we were given one of the best Christmas gifts we could have wished for. Thanks to the generosity of a total stranger and the work of the Anthony Nolan Trust, Amelia will hopefully be able to fully recover and lead a normal life and do all the things she loves.
I work at Allesley Park Medical Centre, and some of the doctors, together with some friends and family are fundraising for the Anthony Nolan Trust. They are cycling 100 miles between Winsford in Cheshire to Winsford Ave - where the surgery is based on the 20th June 2015.
Please help the Anthony Nolan Trust continue to do their work by giving a little and making our challenge even more meaningful.
