Story

This year we are riding to raise money for Breast Cancer Care:

http://www.breastcancercare.org.uk

Breast Cancer is a terrible disease and affects people and families everyday, we really felt that this year, this would be a truly worthy cause and also it gave us a chance to change the Team Why colours too pink!

Day One - The challenge starts in Rouen, we will ride 180 miles on the first day arriving in Montargis the first evening. After an overnight stay we have an early start on Day 2 which sees us riding 190 miles to Macon.  The day starts quite flat, but its not long before we start seeing some hills with the biggest climb of the day being the Col de Grand Joux, this is towards the end of the day and provides a nice warm up for Day 3.

Day 3 is the shortest day at 140 miles, but is also the hardest with over 4600m of climbing ahead of us. At first we head along the valley of the River Sanone towards the Jura Mountains. We warm up on the Col de la Lebe (914m) we then head onto the Col de la Grand Colombier (1531m), we then descend again before joining the route of the 2013 Tour de France and climb the Semnoz to the Cret de Chatillon where Chris Frome sealed his first TdF victory. From the finish at 1699m we will have a fantastic view across Lake Annecy and Mount Blanc.

The challenge is 510 miles over 3 days with a vertical ascent of 10,800m (35,900ft) which is 6,000ft higher than Mount Everest!

The prime objective for TEAM WHY 6 is to raise sponsorship for our chosen charity, whilst enjoying cycling through the French countryside. We are committed to raising a minimum of £4000 for Charity of which 50% will be donated to Breast Cancer Care and the remaining 50% shared equally between the British Heart Foundation and Cancer Research UK.

Follow us for updates on Facebook - Team Why 6. To reiterate we pay all of our costs/expenses and every penny we raise, every drop of sweat and tears spilt on French Roads is 100% in aid of the supported charities.  We really do appreciate your support, last year we raised over £4000 and we would really like to equal this or hopefully exceed that this year. Thank you for taking the time to visit our Just Giving Page.
