Story
I will be attempting to complete The 3 Peaks Challenge on 7th April 2012 in aid of The Encephalitis Society. The trip will involve climbing the 3 highest mountains in the UK, Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in England and Snowdon in Wales all within 24hrs.
Encephalitis is an inflammation of the brain that can affect fully fit and healthy people of any age. It can develop from a viral infection or when the body's own immune system mistakenly attacks brain tissue and if left untreated, encephalitis can lead to severe brain damage or even death within 7-10 days.
Jo McGee was a fun loving adventurous fit and healthy 26 year old who fell ill from encephalitis whilst travelling in Thailand. Even after receiving treatment, her case was too severe and sadly she passed away on the 5th March 2012 leaving behind her Mum, Dad, brother, sister and so many friends you cannot imagine. By raising awareness and supporting research into this condition I am sure we can make a difference to stop others being lost in such a tragic way.
The Encephalitis Society is a charity that supports adults and children affected by encephalitis, it raises awareness and conducts research into the condition.
Please help me to make a difference by donating as much as you can to this worthwhile cause and stop other people like Jo being lost in such a tragic way. Remember, even a small amount can make a big difference so please give whatever you can.
Thank you for your support
