I completed the challenge 7 years ago after I had corrective surgery for a  spinal cord damage. Thankfully, it was a success. I saw an advert for the challenge and felt inspired to have a go.

It was really tough for the first few hundred laps, especially, as it was a 17 metre pool, but I got there and felt amazing. This year I have decided to take up the challenge again because I know only to well how important it is to keep fit to maintain your health.

This time I will be swimming in an outdoor 25 metre and whilst it will be warm to start with I think getting up early on frosty mornings will be a challenge. I've also unvested in a lap counter watch, which will help chart my progress.

I am aiming to swim 40 lengths 3 times a week! So watch this space for further updates.
