Story
Thank you for visiting our Just Giving page.
On the 6th of October we are flying to Miami, Florida to start a new challenge. We were sitting over a beer watching Brighton loose to Derby County in the play offs when we thought the time is coming for our next challenge. I suggested that we cycle around the world on Boris Bikes. This ridiculous idea soon developed into a slightly more realistic plan that we would cycle an estimated 10,000 miles from Miami to Buenos Aires. We intend to complete this journey in 120-150 days of riding.
We have chosen to fund raise for an incredible charity - SOSchildrensvillages. We both felt strongly that we would associate this challenge with a charity that would be relevant to our journey. 12 out of the 13 countries we will travel though have villages, and we intend to visit and document as many as possible to help raise awareness to their program.
''In Central and South America we care for approximately 13,000 sponsored children in 126 SOS Children's Villages.''
As many of our friends and family are aware this will not be the first time we have cycled long distances. In 2011 myself, Luke and two of our friends cycled around Europe. In 2012, we cycled from Vancouver to Tijuana in aid of the Martlets Hospice. Our latest journey is roughly FIVE times greater than previous and we will be riding through much tougher conditions.
We would both agree that we are involved in this journey as we are seeking an extreme challenge that we will remember for the rest of our lives. We hope that the magnitude of this journey will enable us to raise a considerable amount of money for such a great cause!
Again, thank you for reading our story. I hope you enjoy following our journey!
