Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As you may be aware I have spent the last year training for Ironman UK which is being held in Bolton on the 4th August 2013.
IRONMAN is a gruelling triathlon event, consisting of a 2.4 mile openwater swim, 112 mile bike ride, then a full 26.2 mile marathon, all to be completed in about 12 hours! It is Deemed to be the ultimate triathlon event.
I have chosen to use this event to raise some money for the Lakeland mountain rescue team.
As you may be aware my friend Phil Longbottom and his friend had a very serious fall whilst climbing in the Lake District On thursday the 18th of July. The two injured men were airlifted to hospital suffering serious injuries.
The journey from lying injured at the bottom of the rock face to lying in a hospital bed 100 miles away involves a huge team of people including mountain rescue ,air ambulance and RAF. All coming together to get people they have never met,the medical help they so desperately need!
The Lakeland mountain rescue team is made up of volunteers who give up their own time. On being called they drop everything and head into the unknown to help people in need. Often putting their own lives in danger in the process.
We sometimes take it for granted that should you get injured, you will end up in hospital. more than often its the work of volunteers and agencies funded by donations which get you there!
Money raised will help with training costs and to assist with the vast costs assosiated with running the teams. They rely entirely on donations to keep going.
Please donate to this great cause so they can continue to assist people when they need them most!
I have already paid for Ironman so ALL MONEY RAISED GOES DIRECT TO LAKELAND MOUNTAIN RESCUE TEAM.
Thank you
Mick Hancock
