We fund support, awareness and research to support those touched by breast cancer

Story

In November 2019, one year after my mum had passed away from breast cancer, I received my own diagnosis.

I had wonderful hospital treatment and by February 2020 I was cancer free and fully recovered.

Had I not seen the ‘Change and Check stickers’ on The Lorraine Show I would not have recognised my symptoms as they were nothing like my mum’s.

Future Dreams breast cancer charity funded this campaign and they, without a doubt, saved my life.

Below is the post from Future Dreams about a fundraising event I am participating in. I am not sure I could be described as ‘wonderful or inspiring’ but I am totally motivated to raise as much money as possible for this amazing charity.

Please give generously, please give something, in fact please give anything at all. Your donation, whatever the size, could really help save a life.

Thirty two wonderful and inspiring women, who have all been diagnosed with breast cancer, will climb London's 02 as part of Breast Cancer Awareness month.

The climb takes place in October, Breast Cancer Awareness month. The women have been brought together by the fact they all spotted signs of the disease thanks to the Change and Check campaign, started by Helen. Together they will climb with ITV's Lorraine Kelly.

Helen, head of features on ITV's The Lorraine Show was
diagnosed with breast cancer in 2018 after finding a lump. She started a blog under the name "the titty gritty" and then turned her attention to
reminding women to check themselves. Change and Check puts stickers on changing room mirrors with images detailing the signs to look out for. To date retailers such as John Lewis, Asda, Monsoon and gym David Lloyd have put them in their changing facilities.

Future Dreams breast cancer charity funded the campaign and
we are on a mission to boost even greater awareness. This climb will celebrate the women who have been diagnosed, giving hope to those starting their breast cancer journey and will raise important funds for Future Dreams. If you would like to find out more about the charity and its other work go to www.futuredreams.org.uk

The charity is co-funding a support and respite centre for breast cancer patients opening next year. It has been delivering care packages to patients during the pandemic and is supporting long term research and
support programmes.

Due to COVID19 many of Future Dreams normal funding activities have sadly had to be cancelled for the foreseeable future. This event is a very important way of sourcing donations. Everything helps and allows us to continue funding support, awareness and research.

Thank you for your time.
