We provide emotional and practical support to help people affected by road death

Story

As a lot of you may know, Dad was cruelly taken away from us in a tragic road accident last July. It has been a long recovery for my family, friends and myself to try to get back to a "normal life".  The Road Victims Trust were a massive part of that process and I feel like I should help give back. This charity helped both family and friends with counselling and support on a regular basis to help deal with the trauma of loosing a loved one in such a difficult circumstance. Every penny that is raised will help to support another family at a time that they need it most.

Dad was a great man and I am proud to be his son. He achieved so much over his 58 years and touched so many people with his trumpet playing but also his kind heart and generous personality. His work ethic was second to none and always believed you could be great if you worked hard and put your mind to it. It seems so simple but is one of the rules I try to stick to daily. He was also a fighter and would take on any challenge. After so many battles with illness over the past 10 years, he always attacked it and over came it and is truly an inspiration. He often helped raise money along the way for the charities and hospitals who had saved his life on many occasions.

So this leads me to a moment in my life where I realise that I need to give back and try to emulate my father in some small way. I'm certainly not a runner at heart so the thought of running 26 miles in 18 weeks is pretty scary but definitely a proper challenge (especially as I am currently at 17st 5!). I would be so grateful if you can donate to a great cause and help other families through a difficult time. I will be posting my trials and tribulations on Facebook over the next few months so keep in touch.

Thanks again

Mike
