Story

Mountain Boys are on the trek!!

To compete in Trailwalker.  They have to complete 100km in under 30 hours which is the equivalent of two and a half marathons plus going up and down Ben Nevis in one go; all without rest.

The team is made up of 3 ex-Gurkhas currently serving in the Military Provost Guard Service and Ian Crawford all work at the Defence College of Policing and Guarding, Southwick Park, Fareham.

For Ian, this will be his 11th year taking part in Trailwalker having completed 10 (1000km) before and raising £1000s for OXFAM and the Gurkha Welfare Trust.

Om 1, Om 2 and Dhan have all served many years in the Gurkha regiments and have extended families in Nepal.  They know first hand the importance of and work of the Gurkha Welfare Trust which helps to benefit families and colleagues of theirs back home.

This is our first year doing Trailwalker so come on guys lets give them some encouragement and help to complete this very arduous event and raise that much needed cash fo these very worthy causes.

The support crew Cliff Muldrew and Jenny Taylor are also serving soldiers at the College.

We recently had many donations from work colleagues in order to have a car boot sale stall, we managed to raise £59.67 towards our fundraising target.  Thank you to all who donated items for sale.

On 3rd July all six members of the team took to their heels and blitzed Southwick Park with buckets in hand appealing to people's generosity.  The blitz was successful and we managed to collect £426.10!!  Thank you to all at Southwick Park for your generosity.

"Approximately £20 per month, enough to buy basic food, is paid to about 10,600 needy Gurkha ex-servicemen and widows who do not receive a military pension (15 years' military service is required to earn such a pension)." Gurkha Welfare Trust
