Story
Six National Star students are teaming up to raise money towards a skiing trip to Andorra. The money the students raise will go towards travel costs, kit, equipment and lessons.
The ski trip is planned for January 2018 and the team are trying to raise £6000 by each riding adapted bikes over the distance of a half marathon. If they all manage the feat then they would have achieved their goal of cycling around the border of Andorra, a total of 121km (approx. 75miles). The challenge will take place on Friday 8th December at an athletics track in Gloucestershire with the support of Gloucestershire Wheels for All.
The purpose of the skiing trip this to primarily work upon our students physiotherapy goals by developing their core muscle strength, balance and stability by way of using traditional skis or adapted seated skis. Furthermore, the trip will also be a wonderful opportunity for our students to experience a new culture in which they can develop their communication skills, budgeting skills, decision making as well as face new exciting challenges. For some of our students this will be their first time travelling abroad, first experience of flying and even their first experience of snow!
The team have begun training and with less than a month to go until the big day they have realised this will be no easy task! Keep checking in for updates to see how they are getting on.
